Step
Every year before Brooke decorates; she takes advantage of the ladder (and her husband's elbow grease) and does a little dusting and cleaning. After all, we don't clean the kitchen shelf as often as we should!
Step
When you clean above your kitchen cabinets, you need to use a de-greaser like Dawn to clean with since the dust can be very greasy up there. She used a little bit of Dawn, white vinegar and scalding hot water for her home made cleaning solution.
Step
If you dust the cabinets off first with a Swiffer Duster, you will prevent creating a black paste with the grime. For hard to reach spots, like the 15 foot ceilings, you can use a Swiffer Duster extending pole. It comes in handy to get in the hard to reach areas. So, always dust first, and then wipe off with soapy water.
Step
Use Bounty Paper Towels when you are cleaning the greasy grime. That way you won't ruin one of your cleaning towels. The greasy grime can definitely kill a washcloth fast.
Step
Now let's get to the decorating! The Home Depot has great garland and gorgeous trees, too. If you can get your hands on a Silhouette machine, you can make some personalized wrapping paper with your own designs. It's surprisingly easy to use and, with a little gold vinyl, you can make just about anything.

She hung some homemade paper ornaments on the wall. With just a stapler, some spray paint and poster board, your imagination is the only limit!
Step
Don't forget to freshen up the smell of your space with a little Febreze! It instantly smells great!

And the finished project: that often ignored area of the kitchen comes alive for the holiday season. Check out the full article on Brooke's blog - All Things Thrifty.
