Michelle from 4 Men 1 Lady uses a black and white theme to create a Christmas accent wall. She smartly uses the cull pile at The Home Depot and creates a unique way to celebrate the "JOY" of the season, making this holiday extra merry!

Step
While she loves the deep, bold drama a dark wall adds to the living room, it shows EVERY SINGLE SPECK of dust and dirt. You can't tell in this picture because of bad lighting, but if you got up close you'd see it's covered with a layer of dust and her kids' handprints.
Step
Since this was going to be her holiday focus wall, she needed to clean it up, and she got a little help from P&G products: Bounty Paper Towels, Dawn, Swiffer Duster, and Febreze from The Home Depot. Amazing what a huge difference just cleaning up makes in the feel of a room.
Step
Step
Next, she measured her wall and went back to The Home Depot to collect her supplies. IKEA actually sells the Ribba Wall Shelf she wanted, but it was only half the size she needed. When you can't find what you're looking for... make it yourself! Check the cull pile at The Home Depot. If you ever need any sort of lumber, check there first because you'll never pay full price.
Step
Step
She bought 2, 1x4x6 white primed boards for $6.34 each, then bought 1, 1x2x8 board for $3.07 for a grand total of only $15.75 per shelf. Some added advice? After they were constructed, she filled the holes with a little putty, sanded them down and gave them an once-over with spray paint.
Step
Then after drilling them into the dark wall, Michelle wanted to make something big, bold and graphic on the top shelf, she decided to spell out "JOY" using nails and twine.
Step
Step
First, trace out the letter on the board and hammer nails in to each curve or angle of the letters. For the "O" she hot glued some jingle bells on a piece of foam.
Step
Step
Thanks to P&G, The Home Depot and some amazing creativity, Michelle's accent wall is full of holiday cheer and great ideas including a great advent shadow box. To see how she made all the pieces in this great project, check out the full story at 4 Men 1 Lady.
