Jessica from Four Generations One Roof realized that her mud room had gotten dull and dirty throughout the year. All it needed was a good clean and a little color for a whole new personality.

Step
A while back, Jessica created a mudroom wall unit to allow for additional storage for everyday items. Throughout the year, however, it has become overrun with heavy coats and dirty boots.
Step
As part of the original project, she had repurposed a toy box to be used for shoe, hat, and mitten storage. But like everything else, it needed a good wipe down.
Step
Every DIY project starts with cleaning, and while at The Home Depot, Jessica checked off all her cleaning supplye boxes. Then she got to work by mixing Mr. Clean Multi-Purpose Cleaner with hot water to clean the inside of the storage box along with the sturdy help of Bounty paper towels.
Step
Step
Then she finished with a spray of Febreze® Hawaiian Aloha inside the clean box, as well as around the whole area. In fact, she keeps a can of Febreze inside the shoe storage box to keep the space smelling fresh at all times.
Step
She added a fresh coat of white semi gloss paint to the base of the storage box and a pop of bright tangerine color she purchased at The Home Depot to the lid.
Step
The tangerine colored lid paired with the white base makes the storage box the focal point of the wall. Coordinating rugs with fresh greens make the space feel welcoming, clean, and fresh. Out with the dull and in with the light!
