Step
Prior to cleaning and organizing, this area was a catch all for various items. The bookshelf was stacked high with old magazines. Odds and ends always seemed to end up on the bookshelf, don't they?
Step
One simple way to bring attention to the shelves is by taking a trick from interior designers and painting the back of the shelves a different color than the walls - it will make everything pop on the shelf.
Step
Liz began by taking everything off the shelf. And then she dusted with the Swiffer 360 Duster! It's quick, easy and gets into those tight corners of the bookshelf.
Step
When styling your bookcase shelves, keep it simple. Books themselves are the key element - arrange the stocks vertically and horizontally to create resting areas in the shelves for other items. Or try adding a basket for those books that never look right sitting on the shelf.
Step
Add some flameless candles for a special touch. And the succulent plants, planted in a fun pot are perfect in this spot.
Step
To add a festive touch for the Holidays, sprinkle in some Christmas books, and fill a glass container with ornaments from The Home Depot.
Step
Add picture frames to the horizontally stacked books to fill in the shelf space. Make sure the picture frames are dust-free too.
Step
Step
The whole area is clean and organized now! Now, she has a spot to sit quietly and enjoy a good book.
Step
Wrap it all up with a spray of Febreze to keep the area smelling fresh and clean! Like this project? Well check out what Liz can do with a mantel for Christmas!
